Hands-down the best banana bread I have ever tasted. This recipe was passed to me several years ago by my sister-in-law. For a long time I had searched for a good banana bread recipe and tried too many to count. After receiving this one, I looked no further. It’s simply the best banana bread!
We don’t like to waste food here if we can help it. When we have bananas that are a little too aged to eat the way they are, out comes this recipe. Slice it off warm and pelt it with some butter and you’ve got a mouthwatering treat.
Tip: Banana breads call for mashed bananas. If you don’t have time to use the bananas and they are looking pretty grim, put them in the freezer. The skin will blacken, but the banana inside will be perfect for banana bread! Let them thaw on the counter and bake away.
Banana Bread - Easy & Delicious
Ingredients
- 1 stick butter room temperature
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg lightly beaten
- 3 bananas mashed
- 1/2 cup sour milk (milk + 1 Tbsp lemon juice)
- 2 cups flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp baking powder
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350. Grease or spray bread pan.
- In a medium size mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar.
- Add egg and mix together.
- Add mashed bananas and mix well.
- Add sour milk and mix well.
- Mix together flour, baking soda and baking powder. Add this to the bowl and mix well to finish the batter.
- Transfer batter to greased bread pan.
- Bake in 350 degree oven for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick poked into the center comes out clean.
- Cool on wire rack for 5 minutes. Run a butter knife around the edges to be sure it is loose from the pan, then turn it out on the wire rack to finish cooling.
